Description: Griphite is generally found as dark brown to black resinous masses in complex granite pegmatites. It is frequently associated and intergrown with other rare phosphate minerals.
FLORENCE COUNTY: Griphite occurs as yellow brown to black resinous crusts and nodules up to 1 cm. in diameter in the zoned pegmatite in NW NE sec. 22 T.39N. R.17E., near Fern. (Koehler, 1989).
