Type File Geodatabase Feature Class
The GIS data in this dataset were subsequently derived from the accompanying map "Generalized Water-Table Elevation of Chippewa County, Wisconsin". The map was produced as part of the Chippewa County Groundwater Resource Investigation, a joint project of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey and the Chippewa County Board of Supervisors. The purpose of the project was to compile and interpret hydrogeologic data that could inform land use and natural resource planning decisions in the county. The map data are a regional interpretation of the water table, with an original presentation at a map scale of 1:100,000 and may not be sufficient for site-specific use.
This feature class (ch_wt_CartographicPoints) provides cartographic point features that illustrate localities of insufficient data in Chippewa County, Wisconsin where the elevation of the water table is uncertain or unknown. It is part of a dataset (M096-dataset01) containing GIS data for the map "Generalized Water-Table Elevation of Chippewa County, Wisconsin". The dataset also includes contour lines of water table elevation, lines showing groundwater flow direction, areas of low transmissivity, and an Esri ArcGIS Pro map file.
The original map was produced by a joint project of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey and the Chippewa County Board of Supervisors. The United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) in Madison, Wisconsin assisted with digital capture of the original analog map data. Ian Bohachek provided data editing and review for the final dataset.

These data present an interpretation of subsurface hydrogeologic conditions. Overall, the accuracy of the interpretation varies throughout the study area, increasing with greater data density and decreasing with greater hydrogeologic complexity. These point features illustrate localities of insufficient data and are cartographic constructs, not representing phyiscal features. The attributes simply identify the general type of feature. Please see the accompanying map for additional information about the interpretation and limitations. The digitized data were compared to the original map to ensure attribute accuracy

This dataset presents points illustrating areas of insufficient data, as captured from the original map. Please see the map for additional information about completeness and limitations of the interpretation.
This dataset was digitized from the original published map. Mylar map separates from the original map production process were scanned and georeferenced to the Wisconsin Transverse Mercator coordinate system. Map features were captured with both automated vectorization tools and manual editing. Feature attributes were assigned and symbology was configured to match the source map. Data quality checks were performed to ensure the data accurately represent the source map.
