This dataset consists of targets used to calibrate a regional groundwater flow model. Points include the target name; type of measurement (gage or piezometer); measured value (stream baseflow in cubic feet per day or water level elevation in feet, respectively); the modeled value at the same location; and the residual (measured minus modeled value). The groundwater flow model was created using the analytic element code GFLOW. The methodology and results are documented in an accompanying summary report available from the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey. The groundwater flow model is a two-dimensional regional model and may not be accurate for site-specific applications.

This dataset was produced as part of a project to assess groundwater resources across the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Groundwater is an important resource for the forest, and a more comprehensive understanding of this resource can help guide land management decisions.
Targets, or field measurements of water levels in wells and stream discharge, were used to calibrate a regional groundwater flow model. The difference between the measured and simulated values are useful for evaluating the model performance.
The datasets produced as part of this project are divided by location into four groups, corresponding to the four main National Forest Units: Medford, Nicolet, Park Falls, and Washburn/Great Divide. This dataset is located in the Park Falls Unit.
